Jamb: |
The vertical framing members located at the sides
of an opening. |

| Joist: |
Any of the pieces of lumber arranged parallel from
wall to wall (or truss to truss) in a structure to support a floor
or ceiling. |

Joist Hanger: |
An engineered metal bracket allowing a member, such
as a purlin, to be supported from the side of a second member, such
as a roof truss or rafter. |
