Dear Pole Barn Guru: Pole Barn Kits

DEAR POLE BARN GURU:  Hi! I have a home design and am interested in seeing if it can be constructed as a pole barn, or if I can achieve a similar look using

pole barn construction methods.

Thanks! JENNETTE IN HUDSON

DEAR JENNETTE: Nearly any design, residential or commercial, can be converted into being constructed as a pole barn. Keep in mind, the greatest savings will be achieved when the post frame (columns embedded in the ground) system is used, rather than mounting to a continuous footing and foundation.

DEAR POLE BARN GURU: Good morning. We are needing an ag/residential building.  We are looking at 40x84x16 in Sturgis, SD.  We only have a couple companies and they are booked out.  Are we able to buy the materials for this kit and put it together ourselves?

Any information would be helpful. LYNDEE IN STURGIS

DEAR LYNDEE: Thank you for your interest in a new Hansen Pole Building. We are dedicated to providing completely customizable pole building kit packages which are designed for the average person who can and will read directions to successfully construct themselves. Most buildings can be delivered in a matter of just a few weeks, once the features which work best for your needs have been determined.

Some useful tools for you will include our downloadable full color brochure:  https://www.hansenpolebuildings.com/product-guide/

As well as our “Pole Barn Planning Guide”: https://www.hansenpolebuildings.com/pole-barn-planning-guide/

DEAR POLE BARN GURU: Hi, Will Hansen just sell plans for a pole barn? I have a zoning issue and don’t want to commit to a whole kit at the present time. Thanks. CHUCK IN YANKTON

DEAR CHUCK: I’ll break the good news to you, if you have a zoning issue to deal with, you should not need to have building plans in hand in order to resolve it. Zoning issues are functions of your Planning Department, the structural plan review, which will be done by your Building Department, comes only once you have resolved any zoning issues.
